Dress Code & Shoe Information
​Shoes

All dancers must have shoes in class.

When purchasing Irish dancing shoes, please do not order off Amazon or dancewear stores. These tend to come in not fitting dancers' feet properly.

Mini Murphs and Beginners may begin buy purchasing black ballet shoes (girls) or black jazz shoes (boys).

Returning students and when Beginner/Mini Murph dance families are ready to purchase proper Irish dancing shoes please contact Celtic Soles.

We plan to have Celtic Soles out to the Grafton studio in at the end of summer/beginning of fall.

Before buying new, you can look on our Murphy Buy/Sell Page for outgrown dance shoes.

Dancers performing at a feis must have proper dance shoes.

Dancers ready for hard shoes must either purchase Fayes hard shoes or Feis Fayre Flexi Pro hard shoes

Dancers feising should not have worn down shoes.

Dancers needing tape for their shoes must bring that to each dance class.

Attire

All dancers: Murphy Academy Tshirt or Tank Top, or All Black Tshirt or Tank Top. This is to be worn with Black Shorts. All Black Athletic wear is acceptable.

We recommend dancers wear sweatpants over their shorts during the cold months until entering the studio. No leggings or jeans.

Poodle socks - These can also be purchased from Celtic Soles.

No long pants, baggy clothing, sweatshirts, or jeans.

Boys: Black Gym shorts (no long pants).
Hairstyle
-
Hair should always be out of a dancer's face, pulled up into a pony tail or a bun.
