Presentation Guidelines
Hair
Please use the photos and instructions below as a guide when doing your dancer's wig.
Makeup
-
Dancers in the U11 age group and older must wear makeup. Please use this video as a guide when applying your dancer's makeup >
-
Full list of recommended makeup click here >
Tanning
-
All dancers in at the Novice level and above must wear tanning.
-
We recommend: Bondi Sands Dark > and suggest using a tanning mitt.
Shoes
-
Girl's Soft Shoes: All dancers need proper fitting soft shoes (tight at the toe). Novice level and above must have split sole shoes from Fays with white laces. No tape over the white laces — double knot the laces and tuck them under for a neat presentation. Black polish over the laces at the arch of the foot is only required for major championships.
Recommended: We recommend having a practice pair of soft shoes to prevent a feis pair from stretching out. -
Boy's Soft Shoes: All dancers need proper fitting soft shoes (tight at the toe). Novice level and above must have Fays soft shoes with a heel.
-
Hard Shoes: All dancers need proper fitting hard shoes. Dancers should only be purchasing hard shoes from Fays or Feis Fayre.
Laces & Taping
-
Soft Shoes: White Laces should be worn with soft shoes for levels Novice and up. No tape over the white laces — double knot the laces and tuck them under for a neat presentation. Black polish over the laces at the arch of the foot is only required for major championships.
-
Hard Shoes: Black laces should be worn with hard shoes. Dancers in Novice and up must wear black and white tape with their hard shoes. Please use this video for guidance>
Buckles & Polish/Buffering
-
All dancers in Prizewinner and up must have sparkle buckles (clear sparkle only — no colors) when competing. Dancers are allowed in Novice but not required.
-
All dancers must have their shoes polished before competing at a feis and major championship. We recommend using this shoe polish the night before and packing a shoe buffer to use when needed.
Earrings
-
All dancers in at the Novice level and above must wear earrings. We recommend the large clear crystal earrings like for teams or a color that matches the base color of their costume.
Poodle Socks & Sock Glue
-
All dancers need clean, white poodle socks when competing.
-
Boys need tall black socks.
-
All dancers must wear sock glue when competing at feisanna and major championships.
Number
-
Dancers must use a small piece of white tape on the back of their number card to ensure that it is taped to the number clip to prevent it from falling off.
Black Out Encouraged Feis Guidelines
-
When a feis is "Blackout Encouraged" our school will follow this theme.
-
Dancers will wear all black (leotard and skirt) or (black button up, black tie, and black dress pants).
-
Dancers have the OPTION to wear their hair natural or wear their wig.
-
Wearing hair natural for a Blackout Feis does not mean that you do not have to do your child's hair. Hair must be pulled back away from their face in a half up/half down style, and either wear their hair completely straightened or curly.
-
No ponytails or braids.
-
We ask that dancers wear poodle socks and tanning for the blackout feis. If your dancer is U16 and up they can wear tights.
